A mixture of snow and rain is expected to change to all snow this afternoon as low pressure deepens to our east and surface temperatures lower to around freezing.
The snow will then continue off and on through Monday morning with the bulk of accumulation occurring tonight and early Monday morning. Total snowfall by Monday afternoon is expected to range from 3 to 6 inches.
In addition, strong north winds will be developing late tonight and will cause blowing and drifting of snow in open areas as temperatures fall below freezing.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that accumulating snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
Today: Rain or snow this morning, changing to all snow by afternoon. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches by evening. Temperatures nearly steady in the lower and middle 30s. Northeast winds increasing to 10 to 20 mph.
Tonight: Snow accumulating an additional 2 to 4 inches. Blustery with areas of blowing snow developing overnight. Lows around 30. North winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph after midnight.
Monday: Snow accumulating another inch before diminishing to flurries in the afternoon. Total snow accumulation 4 to 6 inches. Blustery with areas of blowing snow in the morning. Highs in the lower 30s. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph diminishing to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
