CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) — A high school band from south suburban Chicago Heights has been chosen to march in the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade in California.

The Marian Catholic High School band also participated in last year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. The 250 band members learned of the Rose Bowl parade selection on Tuesday.

Greg Bimm has been the school’s band director for 32 years. He says the selection is a big honor.

Only about 20 school bands are picked each year for the parade held before the Rose Bowl football game on New Year’s Day in Pasadena.

Bimm has invited graduating seniors to return and play with the band in California.
