Former Loda and Buckley fire department volunteer Steven Stout, 23, of Loda, was indicted Thursday on two counts of arson for allegedly setting fire to two garages in Loda.
Stout was arrested by Iroquois County sheriff’s officers on Nov. 5 for allegedly setting fire to the detached garage at the Loda home of his estranged girlfriend.
He is suspected in connection with 14 arsons in the Buckley-Loda area in October and November, including the burning of haystacks and empty or abandoned buildings, sheriff’s police have said.
Stout was a two-year volunteer with the Loda department and the newest member of the Buckley department.
Stout was one of 19 people indicted Thursday. The indictments were released Friday by the office of State’s Attorney James A. Devine.
