Riverside Medical Center

Before she reportedly left town a few weeks ago, a former animal control officer for the Village of Bradley harbored more than 40 dogs, 29 cats and 19 snakes in her single-family home, a neighbor told officials Monday night.
The employee, Marilyn Elliot, is no longer employed by the village and the animals have been removed from the home, Mayor Gael Kent said, adding that neither he nor any other officials were aware of the number of animals in Elliot’s home, in the 400 block of Michigan Avenue.
The issue was raised by Robert Simpson, a member of the village zoning board of appeals, during the public comment portion of the regular village board meeting.
Simpson said that he first complained about animals in the house a year ago, and that nothing was done.
“I don’t recall him coming before me,” Kent said.
Simpson says the house should be inspected before a new family moves in. Renovations are already under way at the house and a family with young children is poised to occupy it, Simpson said.
