A prison scene from the movie, “Public Enemies,” starring Johnny Depp and directed by Michael Mann, is scheduled to be filmed in the Joliet area, according to Ashley Cross, spokeswoman for the Illinois Film Office. She said a specific date has not yet been set by the filmmakers.

Being sought as extras are men 6 feet 1 inch tall and under, who are of slim to medium build. If selected, they would be paid as extras.

Those interested can e-mail a photograph and all of their vital stats (height, weight, age, clothes sizes, jacket size and telephone numbers) to PEextras@gmail.com.

In the subject line, put “J Prison.”

For more information you can call the casting agency at (312) 924-1840 and listen to the announcement.

Extras would play police officers, guards and inmates in a movie about 1930s bank robber John Dillinger.

The prison scene is rumored to be filmed at the Joliet Correctional Center, which closed in 2002, and has been used in other films, such as “The Blues Brothers” and the location for the first season of Fox Network’s “Prison Break” television show.”We’ve been in talks with the casting agency about filming. As of this time, there are not any confirmed dates,” said Derek Schnapp, spokesperson for the Illinois Department of Corrections.
