• The woman in unincorporated Bourbonnais who was stabbed during a home invasion this weekend was released Wednesday from Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood after two surgeries on her voice box and three days in intensive care.
• Kankakee County residents are being asked to turn their recyclables into repaired homes for senior citizens and veterans.Wednesday, assembled members of what is being called Task Force Hammer, announced a new effort to collect recyclable materials in the county, with the proceeds then to be donated to Rebuilding Together.
• No matter what happens over the next three days, at least two defending regional high school volleyball champions won’t defend their titles. That’s because three of them — Coal City, Wilmington and Beecher — are wedged into the same Class 2A Manteno Regional that begins today.
