Andrew Haste — Goodland, Ind.
Andrew L. Haste, 90, of Goodland, Ind., and father of a Martinton resident, died Friday (May 15, 2009) at Crestmark Health & Rehab in DeMotte, Ind.

Beverly Kassman — Bourbonnais
Beverly S. Kassman, 80, of Bourbonnais, died Saturday (May 16, 2009) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.

William Lavender — Watseka
William “Bill” Lavender, 73, of Watseka, died Friday (May 15, 2009) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka, following a sudden illness.

Shirley Haberkorn — Gibson City
Shirley A. Haberkorn, 81, a resident of Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Gibson City, formerly of Chatsworth, died Friday (May 15, 2009) at the home.

Winifred Boudreau — Manteno
Winifred M. “Winnie” Boudreau, 85, of Manteno, died Saturday (May 16, 2009) at her home.

Brian Nowman — Wilmington
Brian A. Nowman, 48, of Wilmington, died Thursday (May 14, 2009) at his home.

Coming in print: May 18, 2009

• Kankakee County’s Habitat for Humanity chapter began building its second “Habitat Home” on Saturday. The home is located in a lot donated by the City of Kankakee and the three-bedroom home goes to Dianne Summerville.

• Many weekend events means many photo opportunities. You will find pictures of Kankakee Community College’s graduation, Pause for Patriotism and the Rhubarb Festival at Small Memorial Park.

• The Bradley Police Department has proven it can stand with the best law enforcement agencies in the nation. The proof comes in the accreditation the agency will receive from the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies.

Marvin Eugene Russell, 77, of Pontiac, formerly of Saunemin, died Wednesday (May 13, 2009) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac. Graveside services were held at noon today at Sunny Slope Cemetery, Saunemin.

Deborah Neese — Coal City
Deborah Sue Neese, 41, of Coal City, died Friday (May 15, 2009) at Morris Hospital. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Catherine Denoyer — Bend, Ore.
Catherine A. “Cathy” Denoyer, 62, of Bend, Ore., formerly of Kankakee, died Monday (May 11, 2009) in Hillsboro, Ore., while visiting her son.

Gregory Rocha — Leavenworth, Kan.
Gregory Joseph Rocha, 51, of Leavenworth, Kan., formerly of Bradley, died May 6, 2009, at his home. Burial, with full military honors, was in Fort Leavenworth Cemetery.

O. John Poskin Jr. — Kankakee
Visitation for O. John Poskin Jr. 78, of Kankakee, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Frances LaGesse — Bradley
Frances K. LaGesse, 83, of Bradley, died Friday (May 15, 2009) in the emergency room at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee, following a sudden illness.

Frances Allie — Bradenton, Fla.
Visitation for Frances M. Allie, 96, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Kankakee, will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. She died Thursday (May 14, 2009) in Bradenton.
