• Iroquois County State’s Attorney James Devine subpeonas school and psychological records of Leonard Badenhorst, who is accused of killing his grandfather, Hershel Fleming, earlier this month in Stockland. Devine needs the records to determine whether he will seek the death penalty.

•  Marty Ozinga, Republican candidate for the 11th U.S. Congressional District, speaks at Olivet Nazarene University. He and his Democratic opponent, state Sen. Debbie Halvorson give their views on the proposed financial bailout of Wall Street.

• First in a series of short stories about fans of the Cubs or the Sox as the playoffs approach. Don Glenzinski, a lifelong White Sox fan, has tried to  change his grandson’s allegiance. Nathan Draper, 4, of Kankakee, loves the Cubs just like his dad, Bill Draper.

• U.S. Rep. Jerry Weller, who represents the Kankakee County area,  was the one member of the U.S. House of Representative to not vote Monday on the bailout plan.
