‘Hero’ has taste for breaking and entering

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A teenager who was labeled a hero and met President Bush after turning in a boy who planned a high school attack admitted in juvenile court Friday that he had recently broke into the wannabe attacker’s home.
The 14-year-old told a judge that he was involved in two break-ins into the other teen’s home in the past few weeks.

Pat Benatar to sing at Joliet celebration

JOLIET — Pat Benatar will perform at this summer’s Taste of Joliet, according to the Herald-News. The 1980s singer has been signed up for the summer event by the Joliet Park District. Jo Dee Messina will perform Sunday night of the three-day event. Rock singer Benatar is slated for Saturday night, June 28.

ISU finds graffiti about NIU shootings

Three more messages referring to the the shootings at Northern Illinois University were found in dormitory restrooms at Illinois State University overnight Thursday night or Friday morning, university officials told The Bloomington Pantagraph. A message stating “ISU is the next NIU” was found Wednesday night in Barton Hall, prompting ISU officials to notify people in the community about the potential threat.

Police: Ricin poisoning not connected to terrorism

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Vials found in the motel room of a man hospitalized in critical condition tested positive for the deadly toxin ricin, authorities said Friday. There was no indication of any link to terrorist activity, Las Vegas police Deputy Chief Kathy Suey said at a press conference.

Depp to film at Crown Point, Ind.

CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) - Johnny Depp will be in town this spring to recreate gangster John Dillinger’s infamous 1934 escape from Lake County Jail for his upcoming film “Public Enemies.”
Depp will play Dillinger, and the scene will be shot at the Old Sheriff’s House and Jail. No specific dates have been released, but filming will take place from March through June in Chicago, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Dillinger, an Indiana native, escaped the heavily guarded northwestern Indiana jail March 3, 1934. His co-star in “Public Enemies” will be this year’s Oscar-winner for best actress, Marion Cotillard, who is playing Dillinger’s moll.

Dead man identified in Marshall

MARSHALL, Ill. (AP) — Authorities have identified a body found last month in a trash container near the eastern Illinois town of Marshall, which is close to Terre Haute, Ind.
Illinois State Police say the body is that of 26-year-old Leon Remigio-Becerril. They identified the Indianapolis man with the help of the Mexican Consulate office in Indiana.
