Lawsuits filed: Family claims Wilmington, Island Park were negligent

The City of Wilmington and Island Park District are again being sued over drownings at the main Kankakee River dam, where large signs in English, Spanish and in symbols warn people to stay out of the water because of dangerous currents.

The signs, posted a couple of years ago, have had little effect.
